    Shri Vinoba Bhave College of Nursing, Silvassa a unit of Shri Vinoba Bhave Civil Hospital officially inaugurated on 28th December 2013, with an aim to contribute towards the development of tribal girls through nursing field. Courses are been recognized by Indian Nursing Council, Gujarat Nursing Council and College is affiliated to Veer Narmad South Gujarat University, Surat. College of nursing is functioning under the Union Territory administration of Dadra Nagar Haveli.


    To create a suitable and massive infrastructure to meet the demands and march ahead providing excellent nursing education, adopting new developments into the profession and promote research into nursing practice by following wholeheartedly the principles of our mentor ‘Ever Living Nightingale’ in transforming knowledge into practice, through the most cost effective methods to achieve National Health Goals.


    To recognize ourselves in the leadership position among the best nursing institutions, as a centre for excellence in nursing education, training, practice and Research to meet the challenges pertaining to the human health.

    We believe that Nursing Curriculum should be planned according to the health needs of the society to meet the health care challenges by fulfilling educational needs of students for their all round growth and development. The college also believes that “Every poor deserves the Best”. All health care consumers should be treated with respect, dignity, and compassion. The Nursing College faculty believes that learning is self active and is a lifelong continuous process. Both learners and teachers are responsible for collaborative process of teaching and learning. Students are responsible for engaging in learning activities while faculty is accountable for providing suitable opportunities.

    The college believes that students must be actively involved in the learning process to acquire clinical proficiency and trained to various professional roles. Faculty believes in developing caring relationships with students that promote personal, academic and professional growth.Faculty of this college believes to accept and attend every student as a basic learner, recognize her potential and treat her accordingly.

    Nursing college believes that, on completion of the course students will be able to function as a competent and democratic nursing leader to meet changing health needs of the society and contribute towards the progress of the nursing profession.


    With the national awareness of need of nurses in India, Shri Vinoba Bhave Civil Hospital, Silvassa took the initiative of starting a School of Nursing in the year 2008. Over the years it has been preparing the women of the society to learn and serve people of DNH. In the year 2013, school of Nursing was upgraded to College of Nursing, with an annual intake of 40 B.Sc Nursing Students. There was an enhancement in total number of seats for B.Sc Nursing Course in the year 2016 from 40 to 60 seats and in the same Year M.Sc Nursing Course was started with an annual intake of 20 students.

    College has its own planned building and is associated with 272 bedded Shri Vinoba Bhave Civil Hospital located within the campus, to enable the nursing students to acquire knowledge through clinical experience. Students are also posted in rural health centres for their community experiences. For them a well equipped and spacious hostel is available within the campus. College has an excellent infrastructure with state of art facilities like laboratories, mannequins, Audio Visual teaching aids such as OHP’s, LCD’s, Visualizers, Interactive smart boards to make learning more interesting, realistic and dynamic. The institute imparts not only academic knowledge but also ensures an – all- round development of students through SNA (Students Nursing Association) activities.

    Ragging Free Environment

    As per the University Grants Commission Act, 1956, Ragging is strictly prohibited inside the campus and Anti Ragging Affidavit (Annex -3) has to furnish by the students once admission is confirmed.


    A well equipped spacious library with all the modern facilities including E- learning are provided for the students within the campus


    The hostel accommodation shall be offered to students on the basis of seniority of joining and the merit list. Students are to abide by hostel rules and regulations otherwise they shall be expelled from the hostel and debarred for re-entry in the hostel.

    Monthly stipend and scholarships during the course are provided for eligible candidates by the administration of Dadra Nagar Haveli.

    Uniform Services

    A distinct dress code for the students of all courses, with a sole objective to instill a sense of uniformity and also to inculcate the culture and values in them.

    Medicare & Denticare(Student Health)

    Extend free practice of Medicare and Denticare to the students. Provision of highly specialized facilities like C.T scan, MRI scan, and echocardiography are also available round the clock inside the hospital ad are provided to the students in an extremely subsidized rates.

    Sports and fitness programme

    Liberal arrangements have been made in the way of indoor and outdoor games and other sports facilities to provide students with ample competitive and recreational opportunities. Provisions for participating in various sports events , department wise, inter collegiate or inter university, state or national level are also arranged.

    Counselling and Guidance

    Counselling for a better adjustment in life is provided by the expert counsellors and teachers which helps the students to solve the problems arising out of academic and non- academic challenges. Carrier counselling services are arranged to assist students on a vast spectrum of subjects relating to career planning, employment prospects, carrier choices and job Placements. Counselling is also provided to help the students in maintaining a healthy mind and coordinal relationship among themselves. Services of trained and experienced clinical psychologist are made available to any student who need guidance any time.

    Security services

    The college engages 24X7 high –end security service for the safety and security of students. The hostellers have strict and fixed timings and are to be observed by them, especially in regard with the reporting time of the students.

    Banking Services

    In order to facilitate quick and easy transactions, especially for outstation students and stipend services branches of bank which are located near by the college.


    Students join as a member of the Student Nurses Association and will have the opportunity to register with GNC and TNAI after completion of course.



    The minimum age for admission shall be 17 years on or before 31st December of the year of admission and maximum age 35 years,as on 31st December of the year of admission.

    Minimum educational requirements shall be the passing of Senior School Certificate Examination(10+2).or an equivalent with 12 years schooling from a recognized board or university with science(Physics,Chemistry,Biology)and english with minimum of 45% aggregate marks(PSBE). Only female candicates are eligible.

    Candidate shall be madically fit.(All candidates who are in the merit list are required to submit certificate of medical fitness from Registered Medical Practioner.)

    Implementation of changes in regards to admission process/selection criteria etc will be incorporated as per INC and university notification issued from time to time.


    The minimum age for admission shall be 17 years on orPassed the higher Secondary or Senior secondary or Intermediate or 10+2 or an equivalent examination recognized by the university for this purpose.Those who have done 10+1 in or before 1986 will be eligible for admission.

    Obtained a certificate in General Nursing and Midwifery(GNM) with minimum of 55% aggregate marks and registered as R.N.R.M. with the State Nurses Registration Council. Only female candicates are eligible.

    Candidate shall be madically fit.(All candidates who are in the merit list are required to submit certificate of medical fitness from Registered Medical Practioner.)
