NATIONAL TOBACCO CONTROL PROGRAMME

In Indian tobacco consumption is responsible for half of all cancers in men and a quarter of all cancers in women cancer are currently the second largest killer in the nation. Indian also has one of the highest rates of oral world. The UT of Dadra & Naga Haveli has a high prevalence of chewing tobacco & smoking which contributes to a variety of tobacco related diseases and condition.

TCC & Its Activities

Therefore to address these issues a tobacco cessation centre (TCC) has been set up in Shri Vinoba Bhave Civil Hospital of Dadra & Nagar Haveli.

1. This TCC provides counseling and pharmacotherapy to Tobacco users for quitting the tobacco addict on.

2. At TCC clinic screening is carried out by medical practitioners to identify individuals who are at high risk of developing cancer. The psychologists, Social worker, enlist & Nurses will provide basic tobacco cessation services according to the plan.

3. Besides this, TCC develop community outreach programmer such as conducting training and awareness programmer at schools & college to sensitize different groups on various aspects of tobacco.
